What you end up with
A monthly report that lists months with no sales, whose month-on-month change, running total and top 2 per category match a hand count, plus a check query that says in one row whether the report agrees with the original table. And every time you write a window function, you decide for yourself what it compares with and how rows with equal values are treated.

Starting from a single orders CSV, you narrow down where sales are falling, working from the whole to the breakdown to one candidate. Using nothing but pandas aggregation, you finish with a one-page report holding a conclusion, its evidence, what the data cannot tell you, and one next step.
